Frank Ely proposed the name La Grange Park and was elected to its first Board of Trustees.

Evans, Wolcot H.
Wolcott H. Evans succeeded Miss Eileen Cate as postmaster in 1895 and held the position until November of that year when Lucien J. Rice was appointed. At that time the post office was located at the passenger station of the Chicago and Great Western Railroad at Bellwood Avenue.

Stephen Forbes was an early settler when he moved into Lyons Township in 1829. He would later become the Cook Country Sheriff.

Reverend Franke succeeded Reverend Brauer as the minister of the Lutheran Church in Addison. Like Reverend Brauer he gave Bible lessons at the first Immanuel Lutheran schoolhouse in Franzosenbusch.

Gipson, Joe
A World War I veteran from Canton, Mississippi. He became the foreman of the dust or limestone plant at Covell's Quarry which also supplied bag cement to the road builders and contractors.

Grant, Edward
In June 1934, Edward Grant was appointed Broadview's Village Marshall, serving until April 1935. He was again appointed Village Marshal in July of 1935 and retained the office until his resignation in May 1957.

Graul, Gustave
Gustave Graul became Broadview's new Village Collector in 1930. He is perhaps most noted for being kidnapped on his way to the installation of new village officers. The kidnapping was carried out by Andrew Borg -- Broadview's Marshall -- on August 26, 1930. Read news clipping of these events in May 1930--Exciting Times.
Grenke, Margaret M.
Margaret Grenke was the Secretary of the Broadview Board of Education in 1964.
Griffin, A. M., Reverend
Reverend Griffin served as the first pastor at Saint Domitilla from 1923 until 1935. Among his many responsibilities was to oversee the completion of the construction of the first school building. The building's construction was started under Father Strehl in 1922.

Grove, Orville
Orville "Lefty" Grove emerged in 1940 as a rising baseball star on the Chicago sports scene. A resident of Bellwood since 1928, Orville Grove had attended Roosevelt School and Proviso High. At age 18, Lefty Grove became a rookie pitcher on a White Sox farm team in Dallas, Texas. He went on to pitch in the major leagues for the Chicago White Sox.

Hagemeister, Joseph
Joseph Hagemeister was an active Bellwood policeman for the first 22 years of the village's incorporation. His main duties in those years were lighting the kerosene and gas street lights. He also took care of the sewer system.

Mr. Hahn was the first resident teacher at the first Immanuel Lutheran School.

On April 13, 1930, Louise Marie Haines became the first person baptized at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Hoermann, Ernest
In 1870 Ernest Hoermann built his farmhouse on the southwest corner of 17th Avenue and 14th Street (Broadview). For a time Seventeenth Avenue was named Hoerman Avenue.
Hoffman, Marjorie, George, Paul, James and Hallech
Marjorie Hoffman settled in Western Springs in 1892. She lived with her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffman, and her three brothers, Paul, James, and Hallech. They lived at 4142 Grove Avenue (Western Springs). The family moved to California in 1908. Her brother Paul later became the chairman of the board of the Studebaker Corporation, and then president of the Ford Foundation.
