Glos, Elizabeth

Wife of John Fippinger, Sr.

Glos, Henry G.

Henry Glos was a member of  the Glos family, early settlers of Proviso Township.  Henry, with E. Walter Wilson and Charles Reinke, organized the formation of the Bellwood State Bank in January of 1914.   The bank opened in the Rowe building on 26th Avenue and Saint Charles Road.   In 1916 a portion of Glos' Apple Orchard was purchased in 1916 for construction of a bank building.  In 1941 it moved to Melrose Park to become the Melrose Park National Bank.

Glos, Jacob and John

John and Jacob Glos were brothers from Frankfort, Germany.  In 1832 they settled in Saint Charles.  In 1870 John Fippinger, Sr. conveyed two parcels of land to the Glos brothers.  The land ran from Grant Avenue on the north to Saint Charles Road on the south.  John's land was between 25th and 27th Avenues while Jacob's was from 27th to 31st Avenues.  These lands were surveyed and subdivided in 1892 with lots selling for $150.  John had a son, Louis.

Glos, Louis

Louis was the son of John Glos.  He married Sophia Epcke in 1890.   They had seven children, among them Louis and an older sister, Amelia.

Glos, Phillip H.

Phillip H. Glos was one of the six trustees elected on March 24, 1900 for the not-yet incorporated Village of Bellwood.  However, a second election was required.  On April 17, 1900 there was another election to choose a working and official slate of trustees and other officials was held.  Phillip Glos was slated for a position as a Village Trustee and on May 27, 1900, Mr. Glos was elected to the first Board of Trustee, Village of Bellwood.
