Glos, William

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"Mr. William Glos, one of the younger and popular business men of Harlem, was born in Maywood in 1866, but has lived in Harlem the greater part of his life.  He is popular, active and progressive.  He opened a clothing and gents' furnishing store in 1892, which he conducted for several years.  He has always taken an active part in the politics of the village, and was collector of Proviso Township for seven years, and served three years as President of teh School Board and greatly assisted in bringing the public schools to their present state of efficiency.

"Mr. Glos married Louisa Schoff, who died in 1902, leaving one son, Herbert.  He was married a second time, May 29th, 1905, to Mrs. Rosa Wolf, a widow, with one son, Clarence.  He is now successfully engaged in the saloon business at Elgin and Franklin streets.  His friends and customers are always greeted in his pleasant way."
