The biographies of the nine founding fathers of the Immanuel Lutheran School have been updated in the Early Residents and Settlers section.
We wish to take a special notice this month of the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of the Immanuel Lutheran Southern School District. On October 13, the Immanuel Lutheran Church (Hillside) will celebrate the granting of the request to establish (and build) a school of their own in the Franzosenbusch Community in the vicinity of 22nd Street (Cermak) and Wolf Road. This action led to the construction of a school in the spring of 1853 which survives as the northeast section of the Franzosenbusch Prairie House. In honor of this occasion we add the Franzosenbusch History pages to our site.
Added Faith Lutheran Church to Churches in Westchester.
Added architect's 1959 conceptual drawing for Divine Providence Parish.
In June of 1929 the Greater Chicago Magazine ran several articles on the "ideal community of the future -- Westchester". Read these articles from the Greater Chicago Magazine June 1929 Issue. It echoes much of the optimism written a few years earlier in the Westchester Tribune September 28 of 1926 (previously available on this site).

Added District 92 1/2. This is a compilation by Charles Field on the first twenty years of District 92 1/2 drawn from the Board's own minutes and records. It is broken into sections as was Mr. Field's compilation.
