Schneider, Otto

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"Mr. Otto Schneider was born in Germany in 1869 and came to New York in 1883, where he lived for nearly twelve years.  In 1894 he came to Harlem, entered the employ of Mr. Emil Bechstein, for whom he worked ten years, and Mr. Otto Gorke about two years.  By his popularity and steady habits he proved a most valuable employee.  By saving and close attention to business he accumulated capital with which to start in business for himself and now owns and conducts a very fine and well-equipped buffet at 14 Washington Boulevard, called "The Boulevard Buffer".  Owning to his genial manners and accommodating disposition he has a large patronage of high-class trade and counts his friends by the score.  Mr. Schneider is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and several benevolent societies.

"He was married in 1891 in New York to Miss Louisa Krause, an estimable lady.  They live in a very pretty home at the corner of Elgin Street and Washington Boulevard."
