Several graves are located in front of the current Immanuel Lutheran school.  Through the ravages of time and vandalism many grave markers have been lost.

It should be noted that key information was garnered from the Census of 1850 and 1860.  In those days the Census takers recorded information in the order as they moved from house to house following the roads of their day.  This 'path' of interviews has helped us clarify the location of each residence.  When correlating this information with other sources such as land ownership maps, we have been able to (in some cases) differentiate between similarly named people, sometimes even between parent and child with identical names.  Also, names changed as time marched on.  Friedrich's became Fred's, Heinrich's became Henry's, Wilhelm's became William's; middle names became the commonly used (first) names.  We have endeavored to correctly interpret the information.

We welcome any comments, questions and corrections.  In accumulating this information we have found conflicting evidence.  We have endeavored to use the most reliable sources available BUT we can not be sure we have all of the facts completely accurate.  We need your help.  More information from the families of these nine "Founding Fathers" would be of great value to this ongoing project in order to maintain accuracy.  At this time, we are especially interested in photos, journals, letters, etc., which would describe the southeast corner of 22nd Street (Cermak) and Wolf Road in Hillside, prior to the 1860's. This will help us now, as we work on the restoration.
