Pioneer Proviso Resident Dies

Chris Batterman, father of the Batterman brothers who own the greenhouse at 406 North Brainard avenue, died Tuesday, January 31, 1933, at his home in Hillside.  He was in his eighty-third year and was one of the pioneers of this section, having lived on Twenty-second street for many years.

Funeral services will be held at the Proviso Lutheran church Friday afternoon at 2:30 with interment in the Proviso cemetery.

The old homestead is still standing and is in good condition and lies between Newcastle and Portsmouth Avenue, Westchester, Illinois on Twenty-second street also known as Cermak Road.
