O.K. Railroad Overpass in Cermak Road

"An overpass in Cermak road near the south limits of Broadview has been approved by the Illinois Commerce commission.  It will cost $415,250.

"The commission authorized the overhead extension of Cermak over the two main line and two subsidiary tracks of the Indiana Belt railroad.  Cermak now crosses the tracks at grade.  The commission also authorized a temporary Cermak road detour at grade over the tracks. The detour, 106 feet south of the proposed overcrossing, will be protected by automatic flashing light signals.

"The detour will be in operation approximately 12 months.  The overpass will be a four lane highway."

Today the overpass looks like this:

The photo looks northerly from a hill west of the tracks and south of the bridge.
