Parsell, Aaron

In 1832 Aaron Parsell became the first non-Native American to settle in Proviso Township and lived on the banks of Salt Creek in section 29, (now Westchester).  Aaron Parsell operated the first saw mill located on the east side of the Des Plaines River where the Chicago Northwestern railway now crosses it.

The Aaron Parsell family had six members.  There were four males.  The oldest was Aaron himself, between 50 and 59 years old.  The other three males were Aaron's sons -- the youngest between 10 and 14, the second between 15 and 19, and the eldest son between 20 and 29.  The other two Parsells were his two daughters -- the youngest between 10 and 14 and the older between 15 and 19.  It appears that Aaron Parsell was a widower.
