Building of John Decker on Boulevard to be Ready For Occupancy Soon

John E. Decker of Oak Park, the first capitalist to build a business block in Westchester, announces that his building, which is being erected at Westchester boulevard near Canterbury street, will be ready for occupancy shortly after the new year.

According to Mr. Decker, the building, when completed will have a 51 feet frontage on the east side of Westchester boulevard, a depth of the same amount, and will contain three stores, and two apartments.

The building is to be designed in English style, with tapestry brick and limestone trim, with two gables capped by a variegated slate roof.  It is to be of fireproof construction, the floors being of concrete slabs on steel beams.

The building will be a very creditable addition to Westchester.

This building held the first Westchester Village Hall rented office and in 1948 was occupied by the Hayward family that operated a grocery store.  It also held the office of Hintze Realty at that time.
