TO STRAIGHTEN WOLF ROAD

Cook County Board Plans Improvement, Commissioner Kriz Says, in Near Future

Wolf road is to be straightened and improved by the Cook county board in the near future according to Commissioner Frank J. Kriz, of Western Springs this week.

The jog in the highway where it crosses Ogden avenue will be eliminated by a new right-of-way over property of the Forest Preserve from the Collins bridge, recently opened, to Ogden avenue, where the Wolf road continues south.

This will provide a straight route north and south.  Wolf road is now graveled and in good condition.  Further improvement is planned.

The Collins bridge, a wide concrete structure of great permanency, was built at a cost of more than $35,000.  Commissioner Kriz, states that the road, providing Western Springs with a straight north and south route, will be of great service to motorists in this section of the county.

According to recommendations made by the United States bureau of roads and the Cook county highway department, Wolf road should be made a concrete highway to serve north and south traffic in west Cook county.  Improvement of the road will also provide better access to the forest preserves at Camp Bemis.

The road extends north as far as DesPlaines and south to near the DesPlaines river.
