SALT CREEK GETS $6,000 DAM

Forest Preserve Board Votes to Build At Wolf Road --New Sewerage Disposal Fight Seen

What is seen as a move of the Sanitary District to force the issue of compelling west side towns to use the Drainage Canal as an outlet for their sewerage, and an attempt to make Salt Creek as well as the DesPlaines river "clear" bodies of water is the Forest Preserve Board's action in voting $6,000 for a dam to be built across Salt Creek at Wolf Road, north of Ogden avenue.

The Board voted at their meeting last week to build this dam, to erect a shelter house near Wolf Road, to see if there is interest in this vicinity for a public golf course, and appropriated $11,000,000 for the year's current expenses.

The dam will have a great effect on Salt Creek and will probably create a "swimming pool" behind it.  As Western Springs and LaGrange Park empty sewerage into the creek near the proposed dam and as Brookfield disposes of sewerage father along and LaGrange's disposal plant is near where the creek empties into the river, there will probably be some "connection of cases."  Just as Hoffman dam at Lyons has changed the DesPlaines river so will the new dam, which will be built by day labor, effect Salt Creek.

Much of the Forest Preserve lies within incorporated villages and the growing amount of special assessments levied for improvements have caused quite a little discussion.
