OLD SETTLER OF PROVISO IS DEAD

Louis Mesenbrink, Kin of Local Residents, Dies July 1 at Home in Chicago

Louis Mesenbrink, age 72, one of the old settlers of Proviso, died Monday, July 1, at his home in Humboldt Park, Chicago, of pneumonia after an illness of one week.  His father, Henry Mesenbrink, was charter member of the Immanuel Lutheran church at Wolf road and Twenty-second street.

Mr. Mesenbrink was a brother of Mrs. Martha Schultz of 110 North Fifth avenue, LaGrange, and an uncle of P. H. Mesenbrink, 111 North Ashland avenue.  Albert Mesenbrink, another brother, died six years ago at his home, 444 North Ashland avenue, and another brother, Edward Mesenbrink, died three years ago at Addison.

Others who survive are a sister, Mrs. Louise Abraham of Forest Park and a brother, Fred Mesenbrink of Oak Park.

Two years ago Mr. Mesenbrink retired on pension from the Chicago Surface lines after 26 years duty. He resided in the city for about 30 years.

Funeral services were held Friday, 1:30 p.m. at the Humboldt Lutheran church with burial in St. Luke's cemetery.
