Frustrates Hold-up On North Wolf Road By Dodging Bandit

Edward Mandel, LaGrange dairy-man, frustrated an attempted hold-up by a youthful bandit at Wolf road and Thirty-first street last Thursday evening.  By some quick thinking and a bit of daring, Mandel saved $700 in cash which he was carrying.

He had finished a round of collections and was returning home about 8 p.m.  Near the intersection a car, parked crossways across the road, blocked Mandel's machine.  The youth pulled a gun and told him to put up his hands.

Mandel, however, stepped on the accelerator and quickly swung his car half-way into a ditch and around the bandit's blockade.  The angered youth fired four shots at Mandel's car.
