FRED VOLBERDING 74 YEARS OLD, DIES

Well-known Representative of Old German Family; Owned Farm on 17th Avenue

The death of Fred Volberding, for many years the owner of the old farm on Seventeenth avenue between Roosevelt road and Twenty-second street in Broadview, occurred Saturday.  Mr. Volberding, who was a member of one of the old German families of the district and was related to many in the colony which formerly had its center at Proviso, was 74 years of age.  His home was at 517 Circle avenue, Forest Park.

Besides his wife, Mr. Volberding leaves two daughters, Malinda and Ardina, a sister, Mrs. Frank Sewenck of LaGrange.  A brother-in-law, George Meine, of 145 North Fifth avenue, resides here.

Mr. Volberding sold his farm three years ago, and moved with his family to Forest Park.  Until that time he had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran congregation, at Proviso, but he then joined the Forest Park church, where services were held Wednesday afternoon.  Interment was in Proviso cemetery.
