COUNTY NURSERY NEAR NORTH-SIDE

50,000 Perennials and Trees to Beautify Preserves and Nearby Highways

On a sixty-five acre tract at Mannheim road and Twenty-second street, north of LaGrange Park, the county is developing a modern nursery for trees and perennials for use in beautifying the forest preserves and county highways.

Mike Breen, district forester, in conjunction with Commissioner Frank J. Kriz and President Anton J. Cermak, is taking keen interest in the new project, while Joe Brezina, superintendent of county nurseries, is personally in charge of the establishment and giving it his constant attention.

The nursery will be one of four to be located on forest preserve tracts in Cook county.  A comprehensive program of reforestation and beautifying of the preserves has been laid out by President Cermak and M. B. Szynczak, general superintendent.
