Henry George Meyer, one of the pioneer residents of Proviso township entered into rest September 6, 1917 after a long illness.  He was born in Brasen, Hanover, January 5, 1842, but came to this country with his parents when nine years of age. They first settled in Proviso, later moving to what, is now LaGrange Park where the family has lived for the past sixty-four years.

The deceased leaves of his immediate family an invalid widow and ten children:  Mrs. Emma Ullrich and Mrs. Martha Meine of Hinsdale; Mrs. Amanda McKinzie of Minnesota; Louise and Elsie who live at home; Herman, a mail carrier in San Francisco; Elmer, who lives in Minnesota and Henry, William and Fred who live in LaGrange.  All the children except Herman and Elmer were here at the funeral which was held Monday at 2 o'clock at the late residence and at 2:30 from the Proviso church, where Mr. Meyer had been a faithful attendant since it was established more than sixty years ago.  Interment was in the Proviso cemetery.

The pallbearers were John Westphal, Louis Seegers, Henry Wesemann, Herman Dietrichsen, William Mandel and Fred Lustfeldt.

Note: This is a second obit for Henry but has different name spellings and a little bit more information about children.
