Schwab, Wilhelm

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"Mr. Wilhelm Schwab is one of the members of the firm of Schwab Bros., the reliable butchers and grocers, at 20 and 22 Madison St.  He was born in Germany in 1878 and came to Harlem in 1897.  He learned his trade, that of a butcher, with Mr. Adolph Peters, for whom he worked five years.

"Mr. Schwab is in the meat department of his firm, and is considered one of the best butchers in Harlem.  He is courteous to his customers, and is well liked.  His efforts are adding greatly to his already house.

"In 1904 Mr. Schwab was married to Miss Anna Hermann of the village, whose father was one of the early settlers.  They have a child, Arthur, who is a bright boy."
