Krause, W. A.

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"Mr. W. A. Krause was born in Germany in 1862, came to Chicago in 1882, and to Harlem in 1885, where he began the horse-shoeing and blacksmithing business.  He does excellent work and has a good trade.

"Mr. Krause is a respected citizen and a Christian gentleman.  He is a member of the German Baptist Church, of which he is also secretary at the present time.  He is active in community affairs, pays close attention to business, and is so well satisfied with his adopted village of Harlem that he has had occasion to go outside its boundaries but once in twenty years."

"Mr. Krause was married to Miss Minnie Zander of Harlem.  They have four children -- Louise, Gertrude, Gilbert and Willis -- who are all living at home with their parents."
