Cotton, Harry A.

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"Mr. Harry A. Cotton was born in Vineland, N. J., in 1882 and came to Harlem with his parents and family in 1892.  He received the rudiments of his education in Harlem and Oak Park public schools and finished his training at the celebrated college of Beloit, Wis.  After finishing his college course, he became manager of his father's large laundry and conducted the business until it was destroyed by fire in 1903.  Mr. Cotton has been an almost inseparable companion of his older brother, Mr. W. F. Cotton, and is closely identified with him in his early achievements as described in his biography.  They are today associated in the real estate business, which makes a strong combination of forces.  Incidentally Mr. Cotton has been interested in a number of other enterprises, owning several concessions at the Chutes Amusement Park.  He has also been interested in the oil fields, having recently traveled over many states in connection with the same.

"Mr. Cotton married Miss MacDonald, a most estimable young lady of Oak Park, and they are now living at 15 So. Harlem Ave., Harlem."
