Roos, Fred B.

From the The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906

"Among the vigorous and intellectual young men of Harlem there is not one whom we can mention more highly than Mr. Fred B Roos who was born in Chicago in 1883.  He attended the Chicago and Harlem public schools, the Chicago Business College, also graduated from the Chicago Law School, and was admitted to the bar in 1905.  Though a very young man, yet he has rapidly ascended the ladder of success. He is now enjoying a good law practice with office at 160 Washington Street and he is also at present village attorney of Harlem.  Mr. A. C. Roos, of the firm A. Roos and Sons, bankers, real estate, loan and insurance business, he acting as legal head of the firm, passing on loans and examining legal papers, etc.

"Mr. Roos is congenial, progressive, and a hard working young man, and is today one of the builders of New Harlem.  His motto is, "Never a step backward".  He is active in social political affairs and has a wide acquaintance.  As time goes on, they will realize accuracy of our prediction, that Mr. Fred B. Roos will hold a high place in the affairs of the commonwealth.  He is at present a tentative member of the Bachelor's Club, but of late it is said by some that he is a member in poor standing."
