Rehbein, Albert A.

From the "The Village of Harlem: Its People, Homes and Business – 50th Anniversary Souvenir 1856 to 1906"

"One of the coming business men of Harlem who has proved his coming is Mr. Albert A. Rehbein, who was born in Germany in 1875, and came direct to Harlem with his parents when he was thirteen years old.  He learned his trade of painting and paperhanging in the village, and by his industry and steady habits he has rapidly climbed the ladder of success.

"Mr. Rehbein started in business on his own account in 1899 in a small store-room at 193 1/2 Madison St., corner Lathrop Ave., where he carries a find and large stock of wall paper, paints and glass.  He also does a large business in house painting, contracting and paperhanging, employing a number of workmen.

"Mr. Rehbein is a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.  He also belong to several social and benevolent organizations.  He is wedded only to 'Miss Business', and lives at home with his mother."
