DeRose, Nick

Nick DeRose was the proprietor of a saloon at 28th and Saint Charles Road starting in 1903.  His place was most famous for its Italian spaghetti.  He purchased the premises from a member of the Glos family.  His establishment was the site of many dances and good times.  He later purchased the southeast corner of Mannheim and Saint Charles Road from John A. Fippinger for $500 and built a gasoline service station which he later turn over to his sons Harry and Nick Jr.

Mr. DeRose also served as a fireman for the Village of Bellwood.
