Saint Frances Xavier of Cabrini--Mother Cabrini

1850 - born in Sant'Angelo, Lombardy, Italy.

1880 - Founded Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart

1889 - Came to the United States and opened schools, orphanages and hospitals in many cities including Chicago.

1909 - Naturalized as a citizen of the United States.

1917 - Died at the age of 67 on December 22 at Columbus Hospital in Chicago.

1938 - Declared "Blessed" by Pope Pius XII.

1946 - Canonized at Rome on July 7 by Pope Pius XII as the First Saint of the United States.

The above words exist on the monument to Saint Frances Xavier found in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
