Kemman, Henry and Louise
The Kemman's bought a farm in 1846 in the area which was to become La Grange Park. They had six children:
Clarence
Herbert who would pitch for the New York Giants before becoming the mayor of Beloit, Wisconsin.
Ida
Elmer
Agnes
Alphonse Jr. took over the farm in the 1880's.
Herbert, Elmer and Alphonse Jr. were excellent baseball players. They organized a semi-professional team which played on a diamond in the pasture of the Kemman farm.
The Kemman's barn, which stood on land now occupied by Plymouth Place , was used as La Grange Park's firehouse in the late 1800's when Alphonse Kemman, Jr. was a village fire commissioner.
