Kemman, Henry and Louise

The Kemman's bought a farm in 1846 in the area which was to become La Grange Park.  They had six children:

• Clarence

• Herbert who would pitch for the New York Giants before becoming the mayor of Beloit, Wisconsin.

• Ida

• Elmer

• Agnes

• Alphonse Jr. took over the farm in the 1880's.

Herbert, Elmer and Alphonse Jr. were excellent baseball players.  They organized a semi-professional team which played on a diamond in the pasture of the Kemman farm.

The Kemman's barn, which stood on land now occupied by Plymouth Place , was used as La Grange Park's firehouse in the late 1800's when Alphonse Kemman, Jr. was a village fire commissioner.
