La Grange Bible Church

One hundred charter members organized this church in 1909 as the Swedish Evangelical Mission. Reverend C. J. Algott served as first pastor, presiding over the dedication of a church building at Bell and Kensington in 1909.

The congregation adopted the name La Grange Bible Church in 1950.

In 1958 they moved into a larger building at 850 Seventh Avenue.

In 1978, the church had an attendance of 700 and a Sunday school enrollment of 400. Reverend Everett E. Hovey, assisted by two full-time and one part-time ministers, held three services on Sunday and one in mid-week. The church broadcasted radio services six times a week. Children attended a vacation Bible school in summer, and $75,000 annually was contributed to foreign missions.
