The congregation organized in the spring of 1894 as the "Corner Stone Chapel A. M. E. Church".  Services were first held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nelson in Hinsdale.  Reverend Brown served as minister.

In 1896, the mission moved to La Grange and met in Unold Hall on Hillgrove and Brainard Avenues.  The church purchased lots at 320 East Calendar Avenue, and began construction of a building in 1916.

In 1978, the minister was the Reverend Anne Barton.
