This church was founded and organized in 1944 as the Macedonia Temple Church of God in Christ with Reverend A. T. Buchanan as their pastor.  Members held their first meetings in homes and garages.

They renamed their church after the first pastor, Reverend Buchanan.

In 1978 services were held at 236 East Avenue, La Grange, with Reverend L. T. Buchanan, Pastor.
